Look closer

Every spread reveals a new layer of the canyon.

Read the rocks. Follow wind, water, and time through towers of stone, hidden trails, and the changing colors of the canyon.

Meet the canyon neighbors. Look for ravens, mule deer, foxes, and tiny high-desert lives among the pines and stone.

Maggie Isamoyer

Artist, storyteller, and desert dreamer

“I wanted every page to feel like walking among the hoodoos at sunrise, when the canyon seems to glow from within.”

Hi! My name is Maggie Isamoyer and I'm an illustrator from Eastern Pennsylvania! I mainly create children's books and children's art. I love mixing the natural with the fantastical to create new and exciting worlds that children (and adults!) can jump into.

Creating this book has been such an exciting journey filled with lots of research to make sure the illustrations are scientifically accurate. Much of my inspiration came from my trip to Bryce Canyon in 2018. Utah has turned into one of my favorite states to explore and it's a goal of mine to visit all of the US based national parks. While I don't get to travel as much as l'd like, l love to explore new places and immerse myself in the nature and culture of that area. My most recent trip was to Edinburgh, Scotland and the highlands and it was absolutely magical!

I hope you experience the love and awe that I have for Bryce Canyon National Park through this book.
Happy reading!
