Gina Marie Rivera

Artist, writer, and lifelong dreamer

“For me, art is about play, discovering and celebrating the world and all it offers us.”

Gina creates bold, vibrant paintings of plants and animals in watercolor and acrylic. Her pen-and-ink illustrations carry intricate textures that tell whimsy and magical stories.

When she is not creating, you can find her chasing after her three amazing kids and two energetic dogs, with her wonderful husband by her side.

Gina spent months on Cumberland Island for this book, painting the wild horses, the herons, the ghost forest, everything families will discover when they arrive.

What is inside +

Poetic verse and museum-quality illustrations guide families through Cumberland's maritime forest, wild horses, sea turtles, and secluded beaches. Real science woven throughout, enough to inspire your next vacation, not overwhelm it.
