Look closer

Every spread brings the garden to life.

Follow the flight. Discover how hummingbirds hover, turn, feed, and find their way through a world of flowers.

Meet the tiny neighbors. Look for nests, fledglings, pollinator flowers, and the everyday habitat that helps hummingbirds thrive.

Maci Foster

Artist, storyteller, and lifelong nature watcher

“I wanted every page to feel like a garden visit—full of color, motion, and tiny surprises.”

Maci Foster is a children’s book illustrator based in Athens, Georgia. She has illustrated nine children’s books and loves creating artwork inspired by nature and cute animals. She holds a master’s degree in art and design with a concentration in animation, which influences her storytelling and brings movement and personality to her illustrations.

When she’s not drawing, Maci enjoys spending time with her partner and their dogs, who are a constant source of inspiration.

Maci’s illustrations invite families to pause by the window, step outside, and notice the lives moving through their own neighborhood.
