Louisiana’s only national forest is home to whispering pine forests, hidden swamps, and one of the rarest ecosystems in North America.

Can You Read Kisatchie National Forest? invites your family to explore a landscape where towering longleaf pines, carnivorous plants, black bears, and colorful songbirds reveal the hidden stories of the American South. Featuring museum-quality illustrations by Samantha Kent, this book blends poetic storytelling with just enough real science to uncover how fire, forests, and wildlife work together to shape one of America’s most remarkable natural treasures.

Author and educator Neil Rosen is passionate about the transformative power of books on children and their families. He writes books that unite families and empower parents, caregivers, and children to impact their community positively.
