Meet the artist
Allison Daines
Botanical artist and illustrator
“Careful observation opens a world of curiosity, wonder, and connections among all living things.”
Allison Daines is a botanical artist and illustrator based in Reno, Nevada.
She grew up surrounded by art, learning watercolor techniques in her mother's painting classes from an early age, a foundation that continues to shape her delicate, nature-inspired style today. She studied painting and drawing at Southern Oregon University, where she further developed her love of traditional illustration and the natural world. Allison's work celebrates the beauty of plants, animals, and the intricate relationships that connect all living things, combining careful observation with a sense of curiosity and wonder.
She is currently illustrating Atlas of Herbs, an ongoing botanical art and natural history project celebrating the folklore, ecology, and traditional uses of plants from around the world. When she isn't painting, she can often be found exploring wild places, sketchbook in hand, gathering inspiration for future botanical illustrations and stories that encourage children to look more closely at the world around them.
Allison’s botanical illustrations invite children to look closely at flowers and the remarkable animals that help them thrive.
